Transparent Flights
A transparent and ecological plane won the German Lucky Strike Junior Prize for being the best design of the year.
Baptized as Oriens, the new two-seated aircraft is equipped with solar panels on the wings and tail that provide enough energy to travel long distances without consuming fossil fuels. However, the Oriens comes equipped with a gasoline engine for emergencies
Every detail of the aircraft has been carefully studied. For example, to improve the aerodynamics of the wings, the Oriens ends with a gentle arc. The tail in the form of “Y” makes it possible to reduce the weight without losing an inch of its functionality. As for the cabin of the aircraft, it’s made of polycarbonate, a synthetic material that can be recycled. According to the creator, Roland Cernat, the fact that it’s transparent permits it’s occupants “live intensely the feeling of flying”.
